Lynn Sanchez – “I was introduced to yoga in 1993, and immediately fell madly in love. Like all loves, the path has not always been romantic, fun or easy. It has ALWAYS been worth the effort. Yoga is on my top ten list of things that make life awesome, along with dogs, music, ice cream, humor, friends, wine, little kids, dancing and beauty.”

A former journalist, a licensed massage therapist for 9 years and now an independent filmmaker, Lynn Sanchez began teaching weekly hot yoga and vinyasa classes at One Tree Yoga in 2001.

“I want all new students to know that yoga is ultimately not about fancy poses or touching your toes,” she says. “It really is for everybody. Yoga teaches us to use our body and our breath as tools to connect to the here and now. That puts us in the optimal state to experience the gift that is our life.”

Lynn’s yoga education has been shaped by many exceptional local teachers including Theresa Murphy, Libba Harmon, Tippi Denenberg and Annie Brugenhemke. Other key teachers include Buddhist activist/author Thich Nhat Hanh, and yoga teachers Tias Little, Cintra Brown, Baron Baptiste, Erich Schiffman, Dharma Mittra, Adi Amar and Bikram Choudhury.

Libba Harmon - 7/15

Libba Harmon is a licensed acupuncturist and certified yoga teacher. She took her first hippie yoga class in the 9th grade. 10 years later, Libba woke up to the magic of yoga, when Jivamukti Yoga Center in NYC was a 3rd floor walk-up, and serving tea in the kitchen after class. Back when, yoga was a way to stay open and centered during her training as a Muay Thai fighter. Little did she know that yoga would later replace Thai Boxing as her greatest friend and biggest challenge. Libba taught in NYC at Bhava and Kula Yoga Project until the day she moved to Omaha, where she has grown a busy acupuncture practice, and brought sweaty NYC Vinyasa to the midwest set. Libba recently took a 2-year sabbatical in Panama, where she launched a yoga retreat business. Through a long string of good fortune, Libba has had the honor of studying with some seriously inspiring teachers: Sharon Gannon and David Life, Pattabhi Jois, Tias LIttle,  Schuyler Grant…to name just a few. Libba’s signature style has grown into a challenging hybrid of playfully and creatively sequenced, breath-based Vinaysa, with Yin and restorative poses, breath and bandha work, peppered throughout.
