Kathy Della Mia – 6/19. 7/17, 8/28, 9/25
I have taught yoga for six years and plan to continue to do so until I am too old do a down dog Adho Mukha Svanasana! Yoga sustains and nourishes me. I love the variety and challenge of what I do. I teach children and family classes and am a master level certified Storytime Yoga teacher. I also teach prenatal, mommy and baby classes and general all level hatha classes. I encourage all my students to weave the practice of yoga into the fabric of ordinary life and to experience the extraordinary. I humbly share what I know about proper alignment, ancient wisdom and modern influences on the deeper self. My training is wide ranging, including yoga teacher training, Montessori teacher training, Leadership and Effectiveness training. My experience includes a variety of child care and enrichment positions, prenatal and postpartum doula support, professional storytelling and more. I believe fun is as much a spiritual practice as silence and that our tummies can be as wise as our minds. Yoga and stories are for me living arts- they breathe between the details of survival and shines light into our hearts. |

Lisa Garske – 7/24, 8/14, 9/18
Lisa completed her K-8 Yoga Ed teacher certification in 2010, in addition to attending youth yoga workshops with Yoga Calm, Storytime Yoga and Casey Feicht. Her passion for a variety of sports started at a young age. After years of participating in these activities, she realized that they were starting to take a toll on her body. Over fourteen years ago, Lisa did her first sun salutation in a modern dance class in Boulder and, after that first yoga experience, felt a new zest for life. The past fourteen years experiencing various methods of yoga and teachers have shown her that yoga makes a person more limber, mentally strong and relaxed, and also brings a sense of awareness, balance and peacefulness to life. Currently, Lisa is a library/technology teacher at an elementary school, leads after school yoga clubs and is working towards her Masters in Elementary Education. She is a Colorado native and loves yoga/meditation, yoga birthday parties/camps, hiking, eco-storytelling and helping the environment. She is thrilled at the opportunity to share her joy of yoga and nature with youth. For further information about Lisa’s youth yoga services contact her at: 720-548-8880 |

Christen Thomasson Bakken RYT – 7/31, 8/7
In an effort to find my dreams, I have gone in two different directions in my adult life. My life has always been filled with children. At a very young age, I began helping at my church’s vacation bible school and nursery. At 16, I traveled to New Hampshire to begin working with kids at Camp Calumet. I spent one summer as a camp director for South Suburban Recreation Center. When applying for school, I knew I would end up working with children and applied for the Elementary Education programs at Colorado schools. Once I began college at the University of Colorado, I sought out preschools looking for help and then spent my extra hours working for TinyMinders and Boulder Day Nursery. For the past few years I have taught elementary school north of Denver. Even though I took great pleasure in watching the lightbulb go off in a child’s head and joy fill their eyes, I spent the remainder of my day searching out my yoga practice.

Julie Campilio – 9/11
Julie Campilio feels grateful for being able to live her life’s purpose. She always knew that empowering and connecting with kids was her passion. When she found her own yoga practice in 2004, she instantly knew she wanted to bring this gift to children. With seven years experience as a nanny, preschool teacher, and substitute teacher in public and private education, she knew that helping children was her life’s purpose. Julie completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology and educational studies at Salem State College. After finishing school and traveling internationally, she made Denver her home. In 2007 Julie interned as a school psychologist and had the opportunity to work with children in large and small groups, creating lesson plans that encouraged confidence, respect, and appreciation. By working with The Wellness Initiative she had the opportunity to be in several different schools at the same time working with grades K-9. With experience in such a large age group she has a vast understanding of children’s developmental needs. She structures each class to fit the needs of every age group and demographic. From working with parenting teen moms and gym teachers to teaching 65 students at once, Julie believes that through her teaching experience she has developed an effective and fun way to bring each child yoga. Dealing with anxiety as a child has given her the drive to teach kids tools to calm themselves down and become the most empowered human beings they can be. Julie continues to expand her trainings and knowledge to be the best kids’ yoga instructor she is capable of. She has a strong and dedicated yoga practice of her own and brings her knowledge of alignment and safety into each class. Julie earned her 200-hour yoga training certificate through the Samadhi Center for Yoga, and she completed her children’s training through Story Time Yoga, Yoga Ed., and Yoga Calm. Currently teaching Denver-area adults in the vinyasa tradition, Julie feels grateful to again be working with children through The Wellness Initiative. |
